Reach Out and Row (ROAR)
Rowing Opportunities and River Access for the Entire Community

25th Anniversary Capital Campaign
In 2008, as part of our 25th anniversary celebration, we embarked upon our first-ever capital campaign and  raised more than $12,000 -  enough to purchase a new safety launch and motor and to give out three youth program full scholarships through the Reach Out and Row (ROAR) program

About the Reach Out and Row (ROAR) Program

NRR’s mission is to educate the public about the health and recreational benefits of rowing. We are dedicated to providing educational and athletic opportunities to ALL the youth in our community. We have seen how teens who row not only improve their physical fitness, but also develop more confidence, self-respect, focus, and responsibility.

Reach Out and Row (ROAR) allows NRR to offer summer rowing opportunities -- without fees - - to local teens who represent underserved populations of various ethnic or socioeconomic backgrounds.  Through the teamwork that is part of rowing, they learn lessons that will last a lifetime while enjoying the beauty of the Navesink River and, of course, having fun!

If you would like to make a tax deductible contribution to the ROAR program for local underserved youth or if you would like to recommend a teen for the program, please contact Trish Crosby j.crosby@comcast.net or 732-706-0911

Fund Raising Continues:

In the wake of last year’s success (see Jamar’s story), we hope to offer additional summer youth program spots to underserved youth in our community through the Reach Out and Row Program.

After last year’s big investment (shown above), we plan to renew our commitment to safety on the river with smaller but no less important purchases, starting with new personal flotation devices and other water safety/rescue equipment.

Long-range plans still include finding a permanent riverside home, providing dockage for our rowers, and building an NRR boathouse.  Your support keeps this dream alive and helps ensure that the joy of rowing will be available to all for years to come.

Please consider making a tax deductible contribution using the $25 donation option on the NRR membership and program applications or by mailing a check (for any amount) to Navesink River Rowing, P.O. Box 6153, Fair Haven, NJ 07704

Red Bank Rec Days

Each year, NRR invites a group of youngsters from Red Bank’s summer recreation program to our site to for a fast, fun, free introduction to rowing.  Youngsters participate in erg races, try a few strokes on the water in singles or quads, stay for lunch, and take home NRR t-shirts. Everyone has a great time, including the NRR coaches, member volunteers, and NRR teen rowers who are on hand to supervise
