of Wireless.

Quarterly Meeting
Tuesday January 24, 2012 at 1:00 PM
Marconi Chapter will hold its quarterly meeting in the
Marconi Hotel Conference Room, at the InfoAge site in
Wall, NJ (formerly Camp Evans) see link below. The main
business will be a discussion of the Chapter's
participation in a Sunday Brunch at Monmouth University
on April 15 to commemorate the sinking of the Titanic
(see the January Bulletin for details, link below). This
will also be an opportunity to see the QCWA display
representing the first telegraph and the first
transatlantic radio signals. Talk-in on the
repeater.
Marconi Chapter 138 Vision
Marconi Chapter 138 is in the process of upgrading the
Chapter facilities in the InfoAge Center. The Chapter met at
its Quarterly meeting on November 16, and its plan for the
future was presented. The briefing slides can be seen at
Marconi Vision Plan.
There are three areas that the Chapter needs your immediate
help. Slides #3 through #5 show the InfoAge Conference room.
We are placing a linear diorama on the long wall, which
depicts the early use of the telegraph via a working
interactive telegraph display along a rail line, with a
background of town scenery. On the wall will be a
stylized map & depiction of the first transatlantic
communication by Guglielmo Marconi. It is earnestly
desired to complete this display by Christmas when the
InfoAge will be having special programs and many visitors
can be introduced our technology. Your help is needed, no
special expertise is required, please contact Bob Buus, W2OD, or Bernie Ricciardi,
WB2EJT.
Work on the Chapter's own Radio Room will come after the
Conference room, see slide #6. Meanwhile, monthly
participation and contribution of ideas and a helping hand
by chapter members is needed to move forward. Slide
#7. With declining membership, we have declining
funds. We need to vigorously pursue eligible hams in
the area and around to join the chapter, and we need to
start implementing some fund raising ventures, beyond what
the membership dues will bring in. Please
contact Bob or
Bernie to see what you can do to help!

InfoAge now Operational!
Now usually open on Sundays, 1 - 4 PM. The chapter needs
volunteers to man our room on aperiodic Sundays to operate the
station and explain ham radio to visitors. Volunteers will
rotate through successive Sundays. Contact any club officer
for further information, and visit the INFOAGE web site (see
below) for other pertinent information.

Phil Petersen's Story Book is still available!
For years, Phil Petersen, W2DME (SK), had a radio program where he
related interesting amateur-related stories. These tales have been
transcribed into a 91 page booklet entitled "The World of Amateur
Radio" and are now available from the chapter for $20.00. Contact
our President, Bernie WB2EJT , or
Secretary, Bob Buus W2OD
to get a copy.

Visit the Information Age
Learning Center Site. The Center is being established at
the soon-to-be-former Camp Evans and what was Marconi's
commercial receiving station. This is to be the focal point of
preservation and interpretation of New Jersey's rich
communication, computers, electronics, radio, radar, satellite,
and telephony history.
